Build MythTV from CVS

pchdtv.com :: View topic - Is rebuilding the kernel really necessary?: "If you build mythtv from CVS, you will get alot fo updated patches that people have submitted for HDTV. So it I recommend you do build CVS."

Manually enter the channel frequencies

pchdtv.com :: View topic - Is rebuilding the kernel really necessary?: "With respect to the channel info, I had a lot of confusion here until I manually edited each channel to show the actual UHF freq in use, not the logical channel number. This is the value that's on the second setup page for each channel."

Installation notes: MythTV on Debian (PVR-350)

I have posted my notes in installing mythtv on debian.

http://www.geocities.com/glebadavid/files/computer/mythtv/

I hope they help someone.

Any comments are welcome.

It is a long process. It would be great if there was a quicker way
to add myth to a running debian system.

Restart backend after changes

When you make changes to the mythsetup .....

YOU HAVE TO RESTART MYTHBACK END

... this includes changes to the scripts. Apparently they are loaded into
memory.

pcHDTV: Generic kernel and 12-20-04 drivers

I just noticed my reply has been "held-up" cuz the .config attachment was a bit large.

So - if you'd like to look at that let me know.

My orig email said I had installed the generic 2.6.9 kernel without the BTTV/CXX drives (so I could build the BTTV/CXX modules (v1.5) which come with the card.

The new drivers were very easy to setup/install. No kernel "patches" or "hacks".

[mythtv-users] Autoplay DVD

> I want mythfrontend to automatically play a DVD (actually start playing the DVD such that I would at the main menu of the DVD) from the mythtv main menu, however I've had no luck to date. I have set all the configuration options that I know about correctly:
> A) Main Settings --> Set DVD monitoring to on
> B) MythDVD Settings --> Set action for DVD autoplay to "Display DVD Menu Menu"
>
> Has anyone had success with this ? If so is there something I'm missing ?

Set it to "Play DVD" not display menu.
